This is JoeBlog2.1 – migrating from gisfireguy.blogspot.com and j03lar50n.wordpress.com as I’m not really working in the wildfire business anymore and I finally have my own domain.
My short and skinny: learning computers/web backward as a Forestry major turned GIS guy..i have a strong desire to learn about Open Source GIS and the Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI’s) or stacks which are behind them. Therefore, I envision much of this blog will consist of things related to that. I’ve recently discovered the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) and am trying to learn from and contribute to that as much as I can, as time permits. As I’ve gotten more + more into GIS – I’ve realized that it would be good for me to know languages such as Python and JavaScript, but I’m also still catching up on basics such as (X)HTML, CSS and PHP.
IF ALL THOSE ACRONYMS AREN’T FOR YOU: on another note…stuff on this web blog may involve hiking, gardening, cooking or other with my dog Bruce and wife Paula♥
